About Me

Brandyn drinking shakeology

I’m Brandyn from Minnesota, and I’m excited to share my personal journey with you. Picture this: I used to have a beer in hand every day, and my body showed it. At my heaviest, I weighed over 300 lbs. Can you imagine? Now, I’m almost 4 months sober and tipping the scales at 192 lbs. That’s quite the change, right?

It hasn’t been easy. The toughest part? Breaking the cycle of drinking. I had a wake-up call when a nurse practitioner told me that everything I ate after having alcohol was turning straight into fat, and my triglycerides were through the roof. I was on a fast track to high cholesterol if I didn’t do something.

Why am I sharing this? Because I want you to know it’s possible to turn things around, no matter how far gone you think you are. The transition wasn’t just about losing weight but also about regaining control and improving my mental health.

Swapping my keg belly for a six-pack wasn’t an overnight transformation. It’s a continuous journey. And it’s this journey that inspired me to create something more purposeful, something bigger than myself, and that’s how ‘The Fit Habit Project’ came to life. Let’s make progress together!

Why I Created The Fit Habit Project

So here’s where ‘The Fit Habit Project’ comes in. It’s not just a blog, it’s a space where anyone looking to transform their life can find inspiration and real-life examples of change. It’s born out of my own experience—the ups, the downs, and everything in between. I wanted to create a resource I wish I had when I started my journey.

The Fit Habit Project is all about beginner fitness and life transformation. I focus on the basics because I know first-hand how overwhelming it can be when you’re just starting out. This project is designed to cut through the noise and provide actionable, straightforward advice. That’s why transparency is key here. I’ll be posting weekly updates on my progress, sharing photos, and logging my nutrition. It’s a way for me to stay accountable, and for you to see first-hand what’s working.

But this isn’t just about my transformation. It’s about building a community. Imagine being surrounded by people who are rooting for you who understand exactly what you’re going through. That’s the kind of environment the Fit Habit Project aims to foster—one where support and encouragement flow freely.

I created this project not just as a physical transformation resource but as a tool for mental resilience and community connection. That’s why I’m moving forward with daily discipline as my compass, steering me away from old habits. This naturally leads us to a crucial part of my journey: maintaining sobriety and incorporating daily discipline into my routine.

My Lifestyle Turnaround: From Drinking to Daily Discipline

Transitioning from daily drinking to maintaining discipline was a game-changer for me. Almost 4 months of sobriety isn’t just a personal victory but a stepping stone towards building a healthier, more disciplined life. The decision to stop drinking wasn’t simply about cutting out beer; it was about rediscovering control over my actions, building healthier habits, and ultimately reshaping my life for the better.

Breaking the cycle of addiction is challenging, no doubt about it. There were days when motivation felt like a mirage, far out of reach. That’s where daily discipline came in. By focusing on consistent, small actions, I was able to create a framework that supports my larger goals. Discipline, more than motivation, keeps me on track each day.

Understanding addiction was crucial. It’s easy to see only the physical changes addiction brings, like weight gain, but the mental toll is often hidden. Alcohol had clouded my judgment, affecting not only my health but also my mental well-being. Addressing these issues head-on required mental health support and a lot of self-reflection.

Balancing fitness goals with mental health priorities became key. It’s one thing to lose weight; it’s another to ensure that mentally, you’re on the same path of improvement. This journey has taught me the importance of a comprehensive lifestyle change rather than seeking quick fixes.

I picked up valuable lessons along the way, not just about discipline and addiction, but also about nutrition and wellness—a focus for the next part of my journey. It’s here that I learned the most impactful truths about sustainable fat loss and healthy living. These insights prepared me for the next chapter of health and wellness.

Valuable Lessons in Health and Wellness

Throughout my journey, I’ve gained significant insights into the connection between nutrition, fitness, and overall health. One eye-opener was understanding how alcohol consumption interacts with the body’s metabolism, turning everything you eat afterward into fat. It led to high triglycerides and nearly brought me to high cholesterol—a path I was determined to veer away from.

I realized that sustainable fat loss doesn’t just happen in the gym; it starts in the kitchen. Learning which foods empower my body rather than hinder its progress has been pivotal. It’s not just about cutting calories but making nutritious choices that fuel my workouts and my day.

Losing weight is only part of the story. I encountered common pitfalls like losing muscle along with fat, which many who start their weight loss journey don’t anticipate. It taught me the importance of incorporating strength training and maintaining a balanced diet to prevent muscle loss.

Getting professional advice was crucial. My experience with healthcare professionals helped me identify problems I didn’t even know I had, like elevated triglycerides, and gave me the knowledge to make informed decisions about my diet and fitness routines.

This journey of wellness is ongoing, and every lesson has armed me with tools to tackle future challenges. Health is multifaceted, and I’m eager to take this information into my ongoing fitness journey, sharing my experiences and encouraging others to embark on their transformation. Together, it’s not just about achieving body goals but embracing a lifestyle change that uplifts every part of our wellbeing.
